FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RED CARPET ROLLS OUT FOR IVONNA CADAVER FOR THE DVD RELEASE EVENT FOR ‘KING KONG’ AND ‘THE SCI FI BOYS’ AT THE EGYPTIAN THEATRE.
Hollywood, CA April 5, 2006--Macabre Theatre’s Ivonna Cadaver interviewed the masters of horror / monster filmmaking and special effects at the Hollywood DVD release event for Universal Studios Home Entertainment’s “King Kong” directed by Peter Jackson, and “The Sci Fi Boys,” a new documentary from writer-producer-director Paul Davids at the Egyptian Theatre on March 21, 2006.
The “King Kong” event featured the never-before-seen theatrical release of “Skull Island,” which is included on the “King Kong” DVD release from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Ivonna Cadaver’s interview with Andy Serkis, who played “King Kong” in the movie, will be featured on an upcoming episode of her program, “Macabre Theatre,” aired nationally and available to more than 55 million homes. Available in Los Angeles on KHIZ-TV / Channel 64 (also available to Adelphia, Dish and DirecTV subscribers)
“Sci-Fi Boys” is a homage to many of the legends of contemporary sci-fi cinema, ranging from such B-movie classics as “The Giant Claw” and “Invasion of the Saucermen” to today’s blockbusters, including “War of the Worlds.”
Ivonna Cadaver interviewed the legendary Forrest Ackerman, founder and editor of Famous Monsters of Filmland. Ackerman's love and respect for the horror and sci-fi genre inspired legions of enthusiasts, including such well-respected movie “magicians” as Peter Jackson, Rick Baker, John Landis, and Steven Spielberg.
Ivonna Cadaver’s red carpet interviews included “Sci Fi Boys” creator Paul Davids, an early fan of Ackerman’s work. Davids made 80 episodes of TV’s “The Transformers” and executive produced the movie “Roswell,” in which Martin Sheen tips off everyone to a UFO coverup.
She also interviewed: Rick Baker who has won 6 Academy awards, Bob Burns who owns the original Kong miniature from the 1933 movie, Basil Gogos whose paintings of monsters and the actors who portrayed them graced dozens of covers of Famous Monsters, Anne Robinson actress in the ‘50s version of “War of the Worlds”, and Michael Pellerin, Jackson’s DVD producer and the man many call “the right hand man” to Jackson on such epic films as “Lord of The Rings.”
“King Kong” is available from Universal Studios Home Video as a single disc and limited edition two-disc DVD set containing never-before-seen featurettes, behind-the-scenes footage, and specially commissioned artwork. Paul Davids co-produced “Sci Fi Boys” with his wife Holland Davids, who for several years was president of Women In Film. Click here to see flash movie of this Red Carpet Event.
