Carson Daly Biography  

Carson Daly attended Santa Monica High School. His mother Pattie Daly Caruso hosts a television talk show “Valley Views” in Palm Springs, California and was a dancer and actress. Carson Daly’s father died of bladder cancer when Carson Daly was six. Later, he began playing golf, had the goal of playing professionally one day and attended Loyola Marymount University on a golf scholarship, where he studied theology. He attended university for one year, but changed direction after starting an internship at a Palm Springs radio station, as well as a disc jockey slot at a station in San Diego.

The DJ job in San Diego led to Carson Daly being offered a job at Live 105 in San Francisco, which later became KOME, and in 1995, Carson Daly was offered the coveted drive time slot at that station. In 1996 he returned to the Los Angeles area as a DJ for popular Los Angeles rock radio station KROQ.

In 1997, Carson Daly first appeared on MTV as a VJ, and the following year became the host of Total Request Live. In 2002 he began a second show, Last Call with Carson Daly that airs late-night on NBC Universal. In 2003 he stepped down from TRL to concentrate full time on Last Call with Carson Daly.
